Valka is among Ikon's loyal customers in webhosting. They have their own webserver with us for a system called Rapidtrade. Among the users of Rapidtrade are HB-Grandi but Valka designed the system with their needs in mind.

More companies are using the system now. Rapidtrade is a side development from fish processing machinery that Valka has developed and can therefore connect directly into the production line.

Production registration happens automatically into the Rapidtrade sales system. The actual sales system is located in a datacenter in the US where it is watched and protected 24 by 7. 

The task was to do realtime copies (replication) of selected entities in the database to hardware located on the HB-Grandi local network that controles production modules from Valka.

The purpose is to enhance security, speed and efficency but still hold all costs as low as possible.

More security is attained when the production units are not dependent on the internet connection or cross continent connections. The system can withstand many hours of disconnect and catch up on the next connection. Data, orders and more are available at two places if something breaks on either side. More speed and security is attained by having local access from production units to data collection server. We are talking about a master to master replication. Changes to the database are filed on both servers almost simultaneously.
