The first Linux Netcafé in Iceland Print E-mail

Since about 2002 we have provided IT services to the Reykjavik Hostel (Hosteling International Iceland). One of our tasks has been to build and maintain a Netcafé (Cybercafé) for their visitors in the Hostel in Laugardalur Reykjavik. In the summer of 2008 the Windows XP operating systems were removed in favour of Linux Terminal Server (LTSP) diskless clients.

Our hope is that maintenance will be simplified as viruses and other related problems caused high maintenance on the older system. Because of the nature of netcafé's, their security gets extensive trials. We will see now how Linux does under this pressure.
